Local church = halftime

Posted: 05/10/2010 in General

Been reflecting on the message at church last Sunday. Matt said something that really got me thinking. He used halftime in sports to illustrate the function of the local church saying that we don’t play the game during halftime but instead we rest, motivate and rethink strategy.

Halftime isnt when Christians are supposed to ‘do Christianity’ and yet so often thats the case. We Christians need to stop treating our time at churches as our time to shine but rather our time to spur one another on towards Christ and good deeds. Think about what would happen if we all put on this mentality. Less conflict in churches, greater church growth, greater impact of the church on the world etc.

When it isnt halftime we need to constantly pursue being a disciple of Christ and share him with the world. When it is halftime, we need to come together to find rest and celebrate him together!
